Cut to my own family buying a house in Manhattan Beach. I knew immediately who I had to hunt down: Barbara. I sent a gushy email that night and heard right back. She knew I was under a tight deadline and assured me she'd get it done. She did and then some. Everyone knows moving is stressful, but you forget just how stressful the whole business is until you're in it. Our house fell out of escrow, everything kept going wrong, blah blah blah... but Barbara was right there, a calm force in the sea of chaos. She steered the project, found a contractor and kept things clipping. Her choices were impeccable (and she included me in the process, knowing I wanted to be hands on). She's also genuinely fun to work with. Her entire team is a delight and they went above and beyond to make sure the project was done and done RIGHT. Great eye for detail; she caught things I'd never see. She was also respectful of changes to our financial situation and worked with me to keep costs down. The end result is a house that is so uniquely us, such a fusion of what we had before and how we married it with the new. We have a cheerful, happy, beautiful and functional house. Each room makes me delight in its own magical way. I can't recommend Barbara enough.

We purchased a condo unit last year as an investment property from long term owners. We knew the unit needed some updates when we bought it, so started to clean up the interior. After really looking closely and realizing the task was more than just a surface cleanup, we researched designers, and based on very positive recommendations and personal interactions hired Barbara. We have several investment properties that we've upgraded on our own, but this one had more potential and needed more work than any of our previous ones
What can I say about her, without sounding like an ad for her services? She's totally professional, responsible, easy to work with, understands her client and their project constraints, works hard, and comes up with creative options consistent with her client's personal taste. When I said "this is what we're looking for" she found exactly what I wanted. When I didn't know what I wanted, Barbara researched the options, showed them to me, gave me the tradeoffs, and helped me pick the best or right option the first time.
Doing the work was a breeze. I had some trades people I always use for some jobs, and Barbara worked well with them. Where I didn't have any particular ones, Barbara came up with terrific ones she often uses that were almost always less expensive that what I was expecting. Barbara was on the job site at least every day, or every other day, to make sure everything was being done right the first time. And when questions came up, she was always reachable, and would stop by several times a day if needed
In the end, what really matters is results, and Barbara delivered. Our job was done on time and came out way better than expected. We had a steady stream of potential tenants looking before we finished the job, more rental offers than we thought we would, and got better rent than we expected. The renters we picked? A couple from across the street saw our unit as we were nearing completion when they were walking their dog, told us our place looked so much better than anything else they've seen, and basically carried all their belongings across the street when they moved in!
